A powerful participant-led performance piece to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the Peterloo Massacre. Co-produced by Manchester Histories, Walk the Plank and Brighter Sound and supported by Manchester City Council and the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
Directed by Evie Manning of Common Wealth Theatre with music by Dutch Uncles composer Robin Richards, the immersive experience brought together eye witness accounts of those present at Peterloo 1819 with the words of contemporary protesters and poets.
For this project we devised the custom technology that allowed for the public to participate in the experience, including an accessible live visualization of script cues, colour coded for different groups, and captions for soloists and participants all synchronised to live musicians.
