Poem Making Machine

A machine to write poetry. Created for A Museum of Journeys in a Chest of Drawers, an ACE supported project that unites two diverse and stigmatised communities through interactive artworks and storytelling.

This interactive installation invites the audience to create a poem based on the stories being shared at the exhibition. Coded in python and built with a Raspberry Pi and a thermal printer.

About A Museum of Journeys in a Chest of Drawers:

Through a programme of workshops led by artists Sharon Campbell and Rachel Ramchurn, participants from Arc’s Post-Challenge wellbeing group and Global Sistaz United (a supportive group for Refugee women in Nottingham) produced artworks inspired by personal effects and memories that represent their individual journeys.

By sharing stories, this project aims to: Assist in building support networks for those affected by migration, isolation and poor mental health. Challenge xenophobic and mental health stereotypes through artworks that identify shared human experiences.
